If you Google Claudia Gonson, incidentally, you come across herentryat Cassette from my Exwhich is an outstanding site. From their about section, “They were into you, so they made you a tape. Today you don’t have a cassette player, but you still can’t toss that mix. We share the stories and the soundtrack to your earliest loves.” For the record, I still have a cassette player. (Two, actually.) The Magnetic Fields are playingThe Pageantin St. Louis, Missouri on March 6th. Of course,St. Vincent will be playingThe Bottlenecktomorrow, and I’m going. From the Polaris theme song to the interludes and songs played over the end credits, it was all top notch. Pete and Pete is the reason I discovered every group associated with Stephin Merritt and The Apples In Stereo as well as a host of other bands. The wonderful soundtrack by Polaris, the Pete and Pete house band, is awesome and it is my opinion that everyone should own it. And, while Polaris was the house band, and their soundtrack is most important, there exists no collection of the other groups which contributed music to The Adventures of Pete and Pete…until now. Using the information available from Jeremy over at The Website of Pete and Pete I was able to cobble together a makeshift soundtrack using my Blip.fm playlist. Enjoy. It is amazing. I found this great video someone put together with clips from an episode of The Adventures of Pete and Pete entitled “When Petes Collide” to an amazing 6ths song. The song was featured in the show in an episode entitled “Das Bus.” The 6ths are Stephin Merritt of The Magnetic Fields having other people sing songs he writes. In this case, that’s Dean Wareham of Luna. Today, I happened by my old haunt, the 91.9 studio and ran into rock director Hot Donna, who isn’t actually named Donna but is actually hot. Regardless, she told me that The Wildcat is giving away tickets to see The Pogues in Kansas City at the Midland by AMC next week. I had no idea…guess I need to pay more attention to stuff like that. Just dropping in to say “hi” real quick but before I left, I wanted to remind all of you to live every day like it’s Shark Week. This is your brain on Hogs. |
